Moving Payroll Manager to a new computer
1. Payroll Manager is working on my old computer but I wish to transfer it to a new computer
a) Get your data files from the old computer. Select ‘File-Utilities-Backup/Restore-Backup all Files in default folder‘ from the menu. If you already have a file open, this will be closed. You will then get a dialog that will let you chose where to save the files – be it a USB memory stick or whatever. (Note that it is not possible to save backups straight to a CD from within the program).
b) Make a note of your User Licence Code. You can find this by clicking ‘Help – User Licence‘ from the main menu of Payroll Manager.
c) Install Payroll Manager on the new computer. Go to the downloads page of our website, and click on the link marked ‘Payroll Manager‘ from the ‘Full Download’ section of the page. Follow the on-screen instructions. This will install Payroll Manager on the new computer.
d) Run the program on the new computer, and enter your current User Licence Code when asked to do so.
e) Put your device onto which you backed up your payroll files into the new computer. Select ‘File-Utilities-Backup/Restore-Restore Multiple Files‘ from the menu, and select the device. The files will be shown. Click on one of them, then hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and press A (which will select all the files) and then click on the Restore button.
f) Click on File-Open and you should see all your files.
2. Payroll Manager no longer works on my old computer – I wish to transfer my data to a new computer
a) Install Payroll Manager on the new computer. Go to the downloads page of our website, and click on the link marked ‘Payroll Manager’ from the ‘Full Download’ section of the page. Follow the on-screen instructions. This will install Payroll Manager on the new computer.
b) The installation process will create a new folder called ‘Payroll’ in the ‘Documents’ folder of your computer: e.g. C:\Users\Username\Documents\Payroll. You should copy the contents of the equivalent folder from your old computer into the folder on your new computer (perhaps use a USB memory stick to do this).
c) Click on File-Open and you should see all your files.
